October is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Month

Research has shown that breastfeeding decreases the incidence of SIDS. Parents are encouraged to breastfeed their infant at night time and return the infant to their own firm sleeping surface after feeding. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provide guidelines for safe infant sleep.
